Resveratrol Improves Athletic Performance

Resveratrol is a chemical compound which is phytoalexin. It is produced naturally by several plants under attack and it can also be produced by chemical synthesis. In lab mice experiments, several beneficial effects of Resveratrol have been reported including anti cancer and anti inflammatory effects. These tests although are not replicated in humans. The only human trial done has been that a very high dosage of resveratrol has lowered the blood sugar successfully.

Resveratrol improves athletic performance

The research published in November 2006 in the Journal cell from the Institute of Genetic and Molecular and cell Biology France, linked to resveratrol and athletic(How You Can Save on Athletic Shoes) performance. It stated that mice that had been fed resveratrol for fifteen weeks and they had better treadmill endurance and control than others. The study reported that effect of resverastrol was due to activation of Sirtuin1 gene.

There is no published material regarding clinical trial on humans regarding it. There is very little human data but in a similar Finnish study it was said that those who are born with increased variation of Sirtuin 1 gene have faster metabolism so they burn energy more efficiently.
