Things to Know when Buying Legal Steroids
If any topic has made entertainment news as much as celebrity drug usage and jail time, it’s the taking of steroids for physical performance. Steroid usage is banned from professional sports, largely because it creates an imbalance between the performance of athletes who take steroids and those who don’t. The consensus in American sports is that a great athlete should accomplish their athletic goals because they are talented, smart and healthy, rather than artificially enhancement.

However, it’s important to emphasize that steroids on their own are not illegal when prescribed by doctors. Legal steroids can be prescribed by a doctor for a multitude of medical reasons, mostly hormone regulation and stimulation, as well as building bone and muscle mass in patients who need it (those suffering from leukemia, cancer and AIDS, for example).
The most commonly prescribed steroids are anabolic steroids, which govern testosterone and its effects. Testosterone regulates many physical traits, such as the production and maintenance of bone and muscle mass, as well as body hair and appetite growth. Too little testosterone in men can result in a decrease in lean body mass (and, in turn, an increase in body fat), decreased libido and delayed puberty; conversely, too much testosterone can lead to heart problems, acne and decreased sperm production. Increased testosterone, strangely enough, can also lead to increased estrogen and the symptoms associated with it.
Therefore, to keep hormone levels regulated, patients buy steroids through a prescription written by their doctors; however, even legally obtained steroids can be abused and overused, leading to more health problems than the patient was originally diagnosed. Steroids are a powerful medicine for a variety of legit causes, but they must be taken according to their prescribed dosage. Professional athletes need to be aware that, even under prescription, steroid use is not permissible to the rules and regulations of their sport.
Naturally, anywhere a substance is banned, a black market is created wherein the substance is bought and sold anyway – steroids are no exception. Illegal sale and usage mimics any other illegal drug, in that its points of sale may include the street, the running track, or even a meeting with an otherwise clean doctor. Unfortunately, many who buy steroids illegally aren’t made fully aware of the safe dosage with which to take them, or the health consequences of taking them for off-label purposes. Regardless, the legal consequences include fines, jail-time, and maybe even the end of a doctor’s career – such a large price to pay for a substance that can be obtained and taken legally and safely.
